QB Ranks

Rankings reflect rest-of-season value and were updated on September 18th

1. Aaron Rodgers - Don't worry about his slow start. He is still the best QB in the game.
2. Tom Brady - He may suffer through a slight adjustment period this week while getting used to only 1 TE formations, but New England has enough offensive weapons to absorb the loss of Hernandez.
3. Drew Brees - One of the biggest surprises this year is that the Saints are 0-2. Brees will still put up strong numbers and trailing in games will only make the Saints throw more.
4. Matthew Stafford - Talk about a slow start. This past week can be attributed to facing the 49er's, but he needs to show something this weekend or he will be dropped in the rankings.
5. Cam Newton - Week 2 should have eased any doubts. Expect another shootout against NY during prime time.
6. Eli Manning - Say what you want about him, but this kid is a winner. Expect another big outing against a Carolina defense that was just beaten badly by the pass.
7. Matt Ryan - He has a ton of weapons this year and should be a stable source of points all year. Ryan has displayed that this is a pick your poison passing attack with White, Jones, and Gonzalez as great options.
8. Tony Romo - Average out Week 1 and 2 and that's what you should expect from Romo this year. Week 3 should be great as he faces Tampa Bay which just gave up 500 passing yards.
9. Michael Vick - Way too many turnovers early on, but I am not concerned for the long term. His receivers need to get healthy and I think things will turn around.
10. Robert Griffin III - So far its been a great season. If the rushing stats pile up like they did in Week 2, he could see a huge increase in value. I expect to see a slow down in production for him this season, but he is going up against bad defenses the next two weeks.
11. Peyton Manning - Rough game against Atlanta. He will shake it off. I expect things to get better in Denver, and I think a key for Manning will be getting his chemistry going with Eric Decker.
12. Philip Rivers - He doesn't really have much to work with, and has dumped it off to shallow receivers often. This should continue until Mathews gets back and some sort of run game can get going.
13. Ben Roethlisberger - Accuracy was a bit of an issue in his first game, but no concerns here. He should maintain this position for most of the season.
14. Jay Cutler - Week 2 looked scary for the Bears offense. They have major offensive line issues. Cutler and the passing game are going to have to shoulder the load if Forte misses time from his ankle injury.
15. Joe Flacco - The hurry up offense looked great against the Bengals. If this keeps up, Flacco may finish closer to the top 10 than I originally thought. Torry Smith wasn't even involved much, so some additional value could exist when he is more involved.
16. Carson Palmer - Accuracy has been a problem early on. Expect some good numbers from Palmer when his WR's get healthy and a more solid chemistry is formed.
17. Josh Freeman -  If he figures out his chemistry with Vincent Jackson like it appeared to be in Week 2, Freeman could return to respectability this year. He still isn't offering as much as I thought he would in the running game, but he still has decent upside.
18. Matt Schaub - I think this is a decent expectation for Schaub this year. The run game will always be featured, and the Texans defense could lead to more blowouts this year which would mean more hand-offs.
19. Andrew Luck - Expect a lot of what you saw this week for Luck this season: Throwing a lot and some growing pains. Just don't expect the pass defenses to be as easy to beat as Minnesota's
20. Alex Smith - All his team asks is that he take care of the ball. So far he has done just that. Smith has done a great job spreading it around and putting up respectable numbers. Don't expect any huge weeks from him, but the way he is protecting the ball should keep him from having terrible weeks as well.

  1. Good listing. I only disagree with you on RG3 being better this season (not next season) than Andrew Luck. Luck looks better than RG3 with not as many weapons as you mentioned- but far better grasp and command of the field aka John Elway type of leadership. Are your RB rankings in a PPR league? Thanks for the lists!

    1. I'm starting to think the same about Luck! He has looked good this preseason. Nope, the RB ranks are not PPR. I have never done one of those leagues so I didn't want to try to make rankings for that.
